Profanity filters are filters that use algorithms to detect offensive words, swear words, or other forms of sensitive content.

With Judge.me, you can use the profanity filter to detect and censor the bad language in the reviews and in turn, create a respectful and family-friendly shopping experience for your customers.

Automatically censor blacklisted words

Our system can detect the blacklisted words in the reviews and replace them with [*****].

  • The reviews will then be published or hidden based on your Autopublish setting.
  • If you use automatic social push, we will also push your reviews to social media with the censor.

To censor the improper language in your reviews:

  • In Judge.me, go to Settings > Review widget > Review curation > Profanity Filter.
  • Choose Replace blacklisted words with *'s.
  • Click Save settings.

Automatically censor and hide reviews containing blacklisted words

Besides censoring the improper content, you can also choose to hide these censored reviews automatically, regardless of the Autopublish setting.

To automatically hide the censored reviews:

  • In Judge.me, go to Settings > Review widget > Review curation > Profanity Filter.
  • Choose Hide reviews containing blacklisted words.
  • Click Save settings.

Add custom filtered words/phrases

By default, we will use a standard blacklist to detect the sensitive language in the reviews. But you can also add your own filtered words/phrases.

  • If you enable the standard blacklist, we will filter the reviews based on this standard list along with your custom list.
  • If you disable the standard blacklist, we will filter the reviews based on your custom list only.

To add your own filtered words/phrases:

  • In Judge.me, go to Settings > Review widget > Review curation > Profanity Filter.
  • Click Add custom filtered words/phrases.
  • Enter the words/phrases you would like to censor. Each is separated by a new line.
  • Click Save.

You can also import your custom blacklist with this CSV template. Please edit the file using Google Sheets only then import the file in the above setting.

Manage reviews with profanity

To see the censored reviews:

  • In Judge.me admin, go to Reviews > Reviews dashboard.
  • Choose the filter With profanity.
  • There you can see the censored reviews and the blacklisted content highlighted.
