Request sequence allows you to choose the exact email template to be used for each review request and reminder.

Set up email sequence

Step 1: Enable automatic reminders

  • In Judge.me admin, go to Settings > Review Requests > Timing and Format > Automatic Reminders.
  • Choose the number of reminders you want to send (up to 3).
  • Click Save settings.

Step 2: Prepare the email templates

  • Create new custom email templates. If you want to send 3 reminders, prepare 4 templates (Initial review request, Reminder 1, Reminder 2, Reminder 3).
  • In each template, assign an email template as the Initial Review Request, Reminder 1, Reminder 2, or Reminder 3.

Step 3: Activate ALL email templates (by clicking on them)

  • If you activate both Custom email templates and Default email templates, the Default email templates can only be used as an Initial Review Request Template and chosen randomly.
  • If you send the requests manually from the Requests dashboard, the system always uses the Initial Review Request.

How email sequence is adjusted if a template is missing

  • If the right template for the desired sequence is not found, the system will first pick the closest template that comes before in the sequence. If that template is also not found, the system will pick the closest template that comes after in the sequence.
  • The level of email in the sequence: Initial Review Request (lowest) < Reminder 1 < Reminder 2 < Reminder 3 (highest).

Example 1:

  1. Initial review request [OFF]

  2. Reminder 1 [ON]
  3. Reminder 2 [ON]
  4. Reminder 3 [ON]

Explanation: If the Initial Review Request is missed, the system will use Reminder 1 (closest template that comes after the Initial Review Request) as the Initial Review Request. Initial Review Request is the lowest template, so there is no template that comes before it.

Example 2:

  1. Initial review request [ON]

  2. Reminder 1 [OFF]

  3. Reminder 2 [ON]

  4. Reminder 3 [ON]

Explanation: If Reminder 1 is missed, the system will use the Initial Review Request as Reminder 1. Since Initial Review Request < Reminder 1, Initial Review Request is the closest template that comes before Reminder 1.

Example 3:

  1. Initial review request [ON]

  2. Reminder 1 [ON]
  3. Reminder 2 [OFF]
  4. Reminder 3 [ON]

Explanation: If Reminder 2 is missed, the system will use Reminder 1 as Reminder 2. Since Initial Review Request < Reminder 1 < Reminder 2, Reminder 1 is the closest template that comes before Reminder 2.

Example 4:

  1. Initial review request [ON]
  2. Reminder 1 [OFF]
  3. Reminder 2 [OFF]
  4. Reminder 3 [OFF]

Explanation: If all Reminders are missed, the system will use the Initial Review Request as the Reminders, since the Initial Review Request is now the closest template that comes before all reminders.

3. Email sequence and Multiple-Language Emails

For example:

If you want to send emails in English and French, and enable 2 automatic reminders, you need to prepare 9 email templates:

  1. English - Initial Review Request
  2. English - Reminder 1
  3. English - Reminder 2
  4. French - Initial Review Request
  5. French - Reminder 1
  6. French - Reminder 2
  7. Any Language - Initial Review Request
  8. Any Language - Reminder 1
  9. Any Language - Reminder 2

For example:

If the locale is [en], the system will search for an English - Initial Review Request, then an English - Reminder 1,2,3. If no English templates are found, the system will use Any Language template. If there is no Any Language template, the system will use a template of any other language.

4. Email sequence and A/B Testing

  • A/B testing also works with email sequences and multiple-language emails. We’ll always get a random qualified template.

For example:

A/B Test 1: Create two English templates for the Initial Review Request. The system will choose randomly between these two versions when an English - Initial Review Request is required.

English - Initial Review Request - Version A

English - Initial Review Request - Version B

A/B Test 2: Create two French templates for Reminder 1. The system will choose randomly between these two versions when a French - Reminder is required.

French - Reminder 1 - Version A

French - Reminder 1 - Version B
